Come On Give Me a Big Toothy Grin!

My daughters would both shout "NO" if they could only open their mouths wide enough. We spent the day at the oral surgeon's (two different ones because the health care system in America is in fact broken. The girls were having two different procedures. One fell under our medical insurance, one under our dental and naturally no oral surgeon in the area accepts both. I guess I should just be grateful I have insurance to bitch about.)

I'm spending the weekend on soft food duty. So far the girls are living on homemade yogurt and oatmeal. We'll see what else I can come up with.

Have a great weekend!

Ouch! I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out I did a lot of sorbet, smoothies, soups, and puddings. I don't know what your daughters had done, but I hope they feel better soon!

Squash leaps to mind. Soft and seasonal!

When my sweetie had dental issues, I made a lot of congee. It's a soft rice porridge popular in China. Basic recipe is 1 1/2 cup long-grain white rice to 10 cups water plus 1 1/2 tsp salt. Bring to a boil, covered, in a large pot. Once it boils, partially uncover to prevent boil-overs and lower heat to med-low. Cook 20-25 min. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 1 hour.
